Hromund the Unsparing, (often simply called Hromund) is a human outlaw, infamous among pirate bands and traders alike for his brutality and unpredictability. He is known to lead a fleet of raiders, the Spears of the Aesir, in devastating incursions against freightercraft, planet-side commerce or manufacturing facilities, space stations, and a variety of other targets--all for the purpose of looting and pillaging.
Early Life
Hromund was born on Earth in the year 943 PRE. In his life on Earth, he was not known as "Hromund;" rather, he had taken the name on shortly after forming the Spears of the Aesir. He spent his pre-raider life infatuated with the ancient Norse people, learning their mythology and the ways of the long-extinct Viking raiders. At some point, he left Earth behind to begin his work of resurrecting the Vikings in a newer frontier that humanity had yet to leave its mark on: outer space.

Spears of the Aesir
Hromund shares command of multiple destroyer-class cruisers, dubbed "longships," with his Jarls: like-minded individuals he entrusts with command of a longship. Together, they comprise a loose "Viking clan" called the Spears of the Aesir. All Vikings swear loyalty to the gods--and, more importantly, Hromund. Save for a few incidents, Hromund's iron hand and cutthroat style of leadership has managed to keep together a few thousand raiders, comprising a semi-organized rogue fleet of destroyers that seek to cut a bloody swathe through the Milky Way--and in many respects, they already have.
